What is the purpose of an index?
An index gives your book a happy ending. The methodical but creative arrangement of key words and concepts serves as a map that guides your reader straight to the source without detours and wrong turns.
Indexing is not so simple a task as listing words in alphabetical order, although the final product might appear as such. Indexing software helps but cannot provide good judgment, creativity, organizational skills, and the experience needed to produce a quality index. An indexer is best able to extract important elements while applying indexing principles.
How much will an index cost?
Indexing prices depend upon page size, density of material, subject matter, and the extent to which the material is to be indexed. Each index is unique. Prices can be determined by page, entry, or flat rate. In general, per-page pricing ranges from $2.25 to $3.50.
To discuss your index, contact me at info@bookworminc.com. Please include your book's title and brief summary of the subject matter.
